  1. It’s not evidence of evolution, it’s evidence that the environment went through a dramatic change and could no longer sustain life for as long as before. And that the ideal environmental conditions to sustain and nourish continual growth for lifeforms had also come to an end.

  2. We already independently know the environment was changing. The fact that insect body mass changed in concert with it until a new and significant predator came around is definitely evidence for evolution.

  3. Wouldn’t it be just as possible that these giant insects simply went extinct due to the dramatic change in the environment? And that only the smaller insect species were able to survive the new environment? Just as the dinosaurs (giant lizards) did while only the smaller ones survive today.
